Jim Yarnell

Jim has close to forty years of teaching experience in international music education. He currently serves on the music faculty at The American School of The Hague in The Netherlands, where he teaches instrumental music, music technology as well as the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement music programs.   Jim is a co-founder of The Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) and served as the organization’s first board president. He has also served as the chair of the music committee for The European Council of International Schools (ECIS). He has hosted numerous international music festivals. He currently directs Global Music Concepts, an organization dedicated to the advancement of international understanding through music.   He is an internationally recognized consultant in the field of music and art education and has presented clinics and workshops worldwide. He is founder of Global Music Concepts www.globalmusicconcpets.com , an organization established to support and serve the international msuic educator. He currently serves as an online faculty member for the Online Curriculum Centre DP Music for the International Baccalaureate Organization. He has also guest-conducted throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Furthermore, he is a freelance trombonist and performs with several Dutch orchestras and jazz ensembles.   He has a Master’s degree in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois, USA, a Master’s degree in trombone from the Utrecht Music Conservatory in The Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, USA.
